Osteology of Cervical Spine

This module provides foundational knowledge of the osteology of cervical vertebrae (C1–C7). It covers anatomical features of Atlas (C1), Axis (C2), and typical cervical vertebrae (C3–C7). The module supports 3rd Semester DPT students in understanding structural differences and clinical relevance.

About Course

The Osteology of Cervical Spine course provides learners with a detailed understanding of the bony anatomy of the cervical vertebrae (C1–C7). The course focuses on the unique structural features of the Atlas (C1), Axis (C2), and typical cervical vertebrae (C3–C7), highlighting their anatomical differences and functional roles.

Students will examine key landmarks, articulations, and distinguishing characteristics that contribute to neck mobility, stability, and protection of neurovascular structures. Emphasis is placed on clinical relevance, enabling learners—particularly 3rd Semester DPT students—to correlate osteological features with movement mechanics, posture, and common cervical spine conditions.
