Learners will study the causes, transmission, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi. It also explores public health challenges, disease control strategies, and outbreak management in communities. Through practical examples and case-based learning, students will gain the skills needed to recognize and respond to major health threats. The course is ideal for learners in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and public health fields.

Before starting the Tropical Diseases course, learners should have basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology. They should also be familiar with infection prevention and control principles, basic clinical assessment skills, and fundamental public health concepts, along with effective communication skills for clinical practice.
This course assists students in developing knowledge, skills and attitude to provide care to clients with various Tropical and Communicable Diseases. The emphasis will be on prevention, management and treatment of Tropical and Communicable Diseases prevalent in Pakistan. Students will utilize the Functional Health Patterns and nursing process to provide care in the community and hospital setting. Concepts of Tropical and Communicable Diseases will be taught based on three approaches i.e. epidemiological triad, chain of infection and web of causation.
